Australia beat New Zealand by five runs on Saturday in their World Cup match at HPCA Stadium in Himachal. Superbly brilliant efforts from Australia put them on the course of clinching another victory in the ongoing ODI World Cup. Having been asked to bat, Australian openers showed their incredible mettle to provide the team a rocky start with David Warner and Travis Head notching up (81) and (109) respectively to guide the team towards a huge total. Down the order, Glenn Maxwell scored quick (41) off (24) followed by Josh Inglis and Pat Cummins’s (38) and (37) respectively as New Zealand bowled out Australia for (388) in (49.2) overs. Chasing the target, New Zealand didn’t see much of a cracking start as Devon Conway (28) and Will Young (32) lost their wickets early on. Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell provided a big impetus with their sores of (116) and (54) respectively to bring some hope of victory. Lower the order, James Neesham fought hard with his 58-run knock but he lost his wicket midway which brought disappointment for New Zealand as they could muster (383) in (50) overs after losing (9) wickets.
