Indian batter Dhruv Jurel’s Test debut has been nothing sort of extraordinary after he played calm knocks in the third and fourth Test matches of the ongoing five-match Test series against England. Dhruv, who was introduced in the third Test match, made a defining start to his Test career. In the third Test, which India won by (434) runs, he scored (46) in the first innings as he didnt get the chance to bat in the second innings. In the fourth Test match, he delivered a remarkable performance alongside Shubman Gill to hand England their first Test series defeat under skipper Ben Stokes and coach Brandon McCullum

In the fourth Test, Jurel came out with the scores of (90) and (39*) respectively to put India over the line, bagging the player-of-the-match award as well. Impressed with his performance, former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble has said that Jurel has got all the credentials to get to where MS Dhoni has got in his career.

"Dhruv Jurel certainly has all the credentials to get to where MS (Dhoni) reached in his career. He's not just shown the temperament of his technique to defence but even when he's attacking. Even in that first innings, he was very assured, he went after and then hit those big sixes," Kumble said on Jio Cinema.

Dhruv Jurel stitched an unbroken 72-run partnership with Shubman Gill in the fourth match to keep India’s unbeaten record at home in Tests intact, stretching back to 2012. Jurel made a distinctly impressive debut considering England’s rock-hard spin attack.

"He has (Jurel) been exceptional, especially of the faster bowlers...He is only going to improve. This is only his second Test and I am sure as he starts playing more and more he'll only get better. And it only augers well for India. And to have him in a squad is exceptional," added Kumble.
