Keeping their hopes alive for their qualification in the IPL 2024 playoffs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Delhi Capitals by (47) runs on Sunday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with their all-round match-winning performance on full display. Asked to bat, RCB posted a challenging score of 187/9 in (20) overs.

Their innings however had setbacks, with skipper Faf du Plessis losing his wicket for (6). But, Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar kept the innings together for RCB, scoring (41 off 29) and (52 off 32) respectively. Down the order, Cameron Green gave a brilliant impetus, delivering an unbeaten 32-run knock off (24). Earlier, opener Virat Kohli had made an explosive start with his (27) off (13), cracking three sixes and a boundary.

Chasing the total, Delhi Capitals logged an awful start after veteran David Warner was dismissed by Swapnil Singh early on, scoring only one run. Young Jake Fraser McGurk brought some intensity, smashing Mohammed Siraj for (14) off his first over. But, unfortunately, young powerhouse was run out when he was on (21).

Stand-in skipper Axar Patel looked threatening to take the game away with his splendid (57) off (39), but Yash Dayal, who has been up to the task throughout the tournament, brought an end to Patel’s superb knock. Gradually, DC went on to lose their wickets finishing on (140) in (19.1) overs.
