India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has revealed his dream playing XI, overlooking India’s highly decorated stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In a candid conversation with Indian veteran Ravichandaran Ashwin on his YouTube channel, Chakravarthy named three Indians in his robust T20 playing XI that saw a who’s who of cricket figures. Ashwin, however, put forth one condition: Varun had to pick the players he has played with.
Chakravarthy picked England and Australia’s explosive batters Jos Buttler and Travis as openers. He included Suryakumar Yadav and Nicholas Pooran as no. 3 and no. 4 batters. Both are ever-reliable candidates and the most feared batters. He added Heinrich Klaasen as a wicketkeeper-batter. Klaasen is also a most destructive batter in the T20 format.
He went with three all-rounders in his XI in the form of West Indies’ duo Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, alongside Indian firebrand Hardik Pandya. In his bowling attack, he only included one spinner in Rashid Khan. While his pace attack featured Jasprit Bumrah and Matheesha Pathirana.
