India’s talismanic batter Virat Kohli, for the first time, has opened up about his retirement from Test cricket two months back. Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 12, bringing down the curtains on a glittering career spanning over fourteen years.

At an event in London, organised by former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh to raise funds for the YouWeCan Foundation, Kohli opened up on his retirement. The event also witnessed the presence of a who's who of cricket personalities like Sachin Tendulkar and Kevin Pietersen.

"I just coloured my beard two days ago. You know it's time when you are colouring your beard every four days,” Kohli said.

Virat Kohli also lauded former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri for his massive contribution in shaping his career.

“Honestly, if I wasn't working with him... what happened in Test cricket wouldn't have been possible. The clarity which we had together is very hard to find. It's everything for cricketers to grow in their careers. Even he hadn't backed me the way he did... those press conferences where he took the bullets from the front line. Things would have been different and I always have respect and regard for him, for being a massive part of my cricketing journey," Kohli stated.

Virat Kohli ended his Test career with 9230 runs at 46.85 from 123 Tests. He has 31 centuries and 30 half-centuries in his Test career. As a captain, Kohli led India to 40 wins from 68 Tests.
