ENG vs IND 3rd Test, day 5: A thrilling day awaits as England stage stirring comeback

As India and England enter day five of the ongoing third Test at Lord’s, the showdown stands tantalizingly balanced, promising a nail-biting finish on the final day on Monday. India, chasing a target of 193, now find themselves in a tense situation, having lost four batters for low scores. They need 135 more runs to win with just six wickets in hand, while England are only six dismissals away from sealing a massive victory.

The fourth day belonged largely to England’s bowlers, who made the most of helpful conditions to pull the match back in their favour. The English bowlers exploited the conditions brilliantly, staging a fascinating comeback. England's returning fast bowler Jofra Archer sparked India's demolition, removing Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. Brydon Carse joined the party, dismissing Karun Nair and Shubman Gill. Meanwhile, Ben Stokes sent back nightwatchman Akash Deep to keep England alive in the game.

Earlier, India bowled England out for 192 in their second innings after Washington Sundar returned with four crucial wickets. England’s top order fell cheaply, and even their lower-order batters couldn’t muster the courage to fight back and put out an imposing total. Joe Root, who blasted a magnificent century in the first innings, again stood up for the side, scoring 40 runs and stitching a 67-run partnership with Ben Stokes, who scored 33 runs.
