Australia and South Africa are set to face off in the second One Day International (ODI) on Friday in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter. With South Africa emerging victorious in the opening match, the Proteas have taken a 1-0 lead in the series and will look to carry that momentum into the second ODI in Mackay as they aim for a series-clinching victory.

The visitors delivered a commanding performance in the first ODI, showcasing discipline in both the batting and bowling departments. A collective team effort helped South Africa take control early. Keshav Maharaj starred with the ball for South Africa, taking five wickets to cripple Australia's chase. In their batting unit, the Proteas banked on outstanding performances from Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma and Matthew Breetzke, slamming 82, 65 and 57, respectively. Now, with confidence high, South Africa will be eager to wrap up the series in the second game.

Australia, on the other hand, will be looking to address the shortcomings quickly in order to make their way back into the series. The hosts fell short in the first match, despite a gutsy 88-run knock from skipper Mitchell Marsh. For Australia, it’s a highly consequential encounter to avoid a series defeat and set up a decider in the third ODI.
